I’m always a sucker for merch, so when I noticed that the Literary Gift Company was selling personalised character mugs I decided to treat myself to a Dark Dates one for (early) Christmas. I could, I suppose, have got a mug asking what Cass would do, but since that’s basically eat cake, drink and stress – i.e. what I would do – and I couldn’t do what Cain would do (mainly, hit people) I decided to go aspirational and choose Laclos. Whose response to most things is to apply nail varnish and eyeliner, drink champagne and flirt with everyone – now that, I figure I can manage.
